The best part of Lancaster House was the staff. They were kind, helpful and keen to make things right, and breakfast was genuinely delicious. The bed was wonderfully comfortable and I slept well, though the room itself could use a fresh coat of paint and some care. Inside, reception is kept beautifully, and the bar and restaurant look like they got most of the renovation attention. Outside, the lawns are growing into a wild meadow, the roof could use a scrub, and the entrance feels retro and a bit daggy. The shower is so low that anyone over 5 foot 4 may be crouching to wash their hair, and I wasn't confident the bathtub could hold the water without giving way. I wouldn't quite call it a four-star stay at this price, but the people and food are great. The upstairs rooms and exterior need some love to match.

We had a lovely weekend here for a family get-together celebrating our son’s 18th. Sunday lunch was great, with roasts and other choices, and breakfast was good too, even with the staff working very hard. The reception team were friendly and capable. Our room was excellent, and they’re quick to offer an upgrade when there’s space. Plenty of parking as well. Thanks, we’ll be back.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to Jeremy at reception. With the bank holiday and other hotels booked out, we were desperate for somewhere to stay, and he went above and beyond to find us a room. We’re from NZ and had forgotten about the public holiday. The room was fantastic and spacious, the bed comfortable, and the meals delicious. Top notch, highly recommend.

Miriam made us feel welcome from check-in, and even took family photos before we headed off. She’s a real asset to the hotel. The facilities were clean and well cared for, and the leisure club had plenty of space for a splash with our baby. The Christmas tree was stunning and the open fire lovely. We ate at the hotel and really enjoyed the fresh food and excellent service, unlike the menus at some other hotels. Breakfast was great too. Thanks, Poppy! A perfect Christmas stop on our way to Scotland.

The pool, jacuzzi and sauna were clean, lovely and relaxing. Staff throughout the hotel were very helpful, and always dressed smartly, which added to the dining experience. Our room was clean, and the hotel itself is beautiful. The food was lovely too. I'd stay here again when we visit Lancaster.
