Altus House - Campus Accommodation

The events Altus House puts on are a nice way to meet people, and I’ve had no WiFi trouble, though I’d read that it was a common problem. I think they’ve sorted it out. I’ve really enjoyed staying here and will be back next year. It’s one of the best student accommodations in Leeds, with friendly staff and some great facilities: an arcade, gym, roof terrace and study spaces. The building looks spectacular and sits in a central spot, near the Merrion centre for supermarket shopping. Leeds Beckett is a 5-10 minute walk away, and Leeds University takes 15-20 minutes on foot. My room and kitchen were lovely and well designed. The kitchen has everything you need except a kettle and toaster, but fridge space was frustrating. There was just one fridge for our flat of four, so we each had one shelf, which wasn’t enough for a big shop. I usually bought only a few things at a time. The room was full of storage, and the staff were all friendly. John did an amazing job keeping the building spotless, and always made time for a chat. He made the place feel welcoming and homely. The main downsides were the lifts, which often broke and sometimes left you waiting a long time. I was told that should be fixed next year. It’s more expensive than other accommodation, but I think it’s worth it. Residents are a mix of ages, including international students and UK students, not just first years. I’d recommend it if you want somewhere premium.
