Mercure Leeds Centre Hotel

Breakfast was the letdown this time. It was included, but when I arrived at 7:30, the bacon was cold and fatty, and the beans and hash browns were cold too. Only the sausages were hot, under a separate warmer. The self-service toast took ages and barely got warm. Based on this morning, I’d skip breakfast or go at 6:30 while it might still be hot. This is my second stay. Last time I had a clean, modern basement room, but getting around the tricky corridors was a bit of a job, and there were no windows, understandably. This time I’m on the second floor with windows, which is nice, though the view isn’t great. I wasn’t bothered that breakfast wasn’t included on my first visit, especially after walking past it. Overall, I’d put the stay at 6 out of 10. The rooms are decent, particularly if you get one with a window.

The room service really let the visit down. The breakfast and coffee arrived cold, there was no cutlery, some items were missing, and they hadn’t brought enough bowls for the cereal boxes. The breakfast itself might have been okay hot. At £130 a night, it’s not one of Leeds’ cheaper hotels. The queen bed was very comfortable, the room was nice, and the bath was a good size. The lighting could be better, perhaps with floor lamps.

We stayed last night at this new hotel just outside Leeds city centre. The room was really big with loads of storage, and the ensuite was a good, normal size. The staff were very friendly, and the location was good. We paid a fair price for the night. Dinner was delicious, with a varied menu at pretty reasonable prices. I didn’t try breakfast, but it looked great, and dinner was good quality, so I’d expect breakfast to be good too. Highly recommended!

Great value for a short stay in Leeds, just five minutes from the station. The rooms have a contemporary design, and the bed was extremely comfortable. The walk-in shower was one of the best I’ve had.
