Outwood House

Out of the four and five star hotels, B&Bs and inns we stayed at around the UK on this trip, Outwood House stood out as the best. The house and grounds are beautiful, spotless, carefully maintained, inviting and comfortable. What sets it apart is the warm, attentive service and care with the details, which we rarely experience. Richard sent useful information about transport and places to eat before we arrived, welcomed us warmly and showed us around the garden, then had a generous breakfast ready for our very early departure. Fantastic hosts in a beautiful, convenient spot. We loved our stay and hope to return.

Breakfast and the lovely gardens made our overnight visit especially memorable. My daughter and I felt completely at home, and Elspeth and Richard made sure we were warmly welcomed and well looked after. The room was beautiful, too. I’d happily stay again.

The walled garden and shared spaces were lovely places to relax, and breakfast came with plenty of choice. Our room felt homely, with a really comfortable bed and furnishings to a high standard. Elspeth and Richard gave us such a warm, genuine welcome. A real gem for a short break with a partner or family.

Breakfast was a great finish, especially the eggs benedict and freshly baked croissant, with a good choice of locally sourced food. The room was lovely, and the bed made for a great night’s sleep. After I’d settled in, I was given a bottle of local ale, and Elsbeth told me about the house’s history when I asked. Richard and Elsbeth were wonderful hosts from arrival to goodbye. I’ll come back, this time with my son.
