Student Only Allied Oxley Residence

I’ve never left a review before, not even about food, but this feels like a student public service announcement: don’t do it. The staff are rude and aggressive, and I found the manager, a woman with blonde hair, looked down on me. There’s minimal internet, little access to anything, no help from staff, and no domestic students from the UK. This accommodation brought me to my knees. It was dreadful, horrific, and very unprofessional. If you’re reading this, don’t ruin your university life by choosing it.

This didn’t feel safe or welcoming for freshers. I experienced racist behaviour from some staff, and the management seemed inexperienced. A tenant near M Block regularly insults Asian residents and gets involved in other people’s business.

For people just starting out in Leeds, students in the neighbourhood may be able to share their own settling-in experiences. The en-suite option is there, and the facilities are okay, with a fridge, toaster and kettle included in the room. It’s very budget-friendly student accommodation, though getting to the city centre usually takes around 30 to 50 minutes at most. Good luck, because not every room is good, and some students do complain a lot 😂

I’d already spent almost a year at Oxley Residence and had a good experience, but since rebooking for a short-term stay, things have gone downhill. My friend and I feel management has treated us unfairly. Other people got the rooms they wanted, but we didn’t. When we raised the lack of kitchen space, they told us, in those exact words, “we are adults and we should manage it by ourself.” They seem focused on the new students arriving this September and give existing tenants little priority. Check carefully before booking your tenancy.
