The Boundary Hotel

The free parking, good location, warm room, clean bedding and towels, and pleasant staff were the good parts. That's about it. The room was dark and very dated, with far too little lighting and an ancient carpet that didn't look clean. Wallpaper was peeling from the bedroom and ensuite ceilings because of water damage, and there were stains on all the walls. The ensuite shower was awful, with water barely trickling from the electric showerhead. If you care about a clean, well-kept room, this isn't the place. I've never stayed in a worse hotel, and I couldn't recommend it.

The strange noises all night made it impossible to sleep, and the place felt unsafe and unhygienic. The room was ancient, and the bathroom was in such bad shape that I honestly don't know how they're allowed to sell rooms. I definitely wouldn't recommend staying here.

For a cheap night near a gig, it did the job, and I'd stay again next time I'm in the area. The staff were pleasant, and I liked being able to get a light breakfast for a couple of quid. My bed was comfortable, the clean linens were good quality, and there was tea and coffee in the room. It's very much a case of getting what you pay for. The place was shabby, and while my room was clean, the shared bathroom was pretty dirty. Fine for somewhere inexpensive to sleep, but I wouldn't choose it for a nice break.

The friendly staff and £7 Full English Breakfast were the best bits. My room was clean and as advertised, though it was very small, up steep stairs, and the shared bathroom was tiny. There was a bit of a smell, maybe cigarettes, and the fixtures were rather old. As a basic hostel and cheap place near the university, it suited what I needed. Just don't expect luxury.
