The kids pictured it as somewhere the children in Enid Blyton books might camp, and it made a fun stop before our next adventure at Alton Towers. The barn has loads of character, with seven comfy single beds, though you need to bring sheets and sleeping bags. There's a fridge, freezer, kettle, toaster, sink, electric heater, hob, oven and plenty of sockets. We parked right beside it off the road, and it was easy to find. Thanks for letting us stay in such a unique place 😀

The owner is lovely, and the shared sitting areas and campfires have a friendly, social feel. The old dairy and cattle sheds have been converted in a creative, quirky way, with two large bunk rooms and comfy mattresses. The composting toilets were clean and felt quite posh to me. If you're used to the outdoors and don't mind roughing it, you'll probably enjoy it. People looking to get drunk and make a lot of noise should choose somewhere else.

We had three adults and three children in the top barn, and there was loads of space. The outdoor area was a lovely place to relax by the fire, and the kids even liked the eco-friendly toilets. The kitchen had all the utensils we needed for cooking. Our host was lovely, and we really enjoyed this new experience. We'd recommend it and would definitely return.

Our night in the top barn was great, with two mums and four kids staying there. It's a quirky place, and we loved the outdoor stove and campfire area. Some reviews mention there isn't a flushing toilet, but the compost loo was spotless. The shower was perfectly adequate for old farm buildings, though don't expect the Ritz. We'd love to come back next year. The only little nuisance was the chickens next door. They jumped onto our table while we were eating and weren't scared of us at all. I'm very glad we didn't bring our dog, who would've gone mad.

Alison the farmer was lovely and very helpful, and she sells logs for the campfire. The place was clean, the mattresses were comfortable, and it had everything we needed for a rustic stay. It made a great base, and we're planning to return.
