Flexistay Leicester Gables Aparthotel

For a night or two, the rooms are decent for the price, though some have only a skylight and can feel boxed in. It's a simple, affordable stopover if you aren't expecting luxury, and it gives you a solid night's sleep. Parking can be a bit of a lottery: there are only three spots, so arrive early or look for an off-street space nearby. Flexistay does what it says on the tin, nothing fancy.

We stayed for one night on 15 Feb 2025. The room was clean when we arrived, and the bed was comfortable, though the pillows were too hard for us. The TV worked really well. You do get what you pay for, but my partner and I would stay here again. It's close to the city centre, with a coop next door and a nice, well-priced fast food place. The room walls could do with a lick of paint.

The porter was really nice and helpful, but I wouldn't recommend the place. The shower was coming off the wall, the single-glazed windows didn't close properly and let in noise, and the kitchen was very sparse. There were only three parking spaces.

The staff were polite, courteous, and quick to help when the remote didn't work and we needed more towels. The co-op and takeaway sharing the building were handy for picking up extra coffee and milk. The location is useful, about a mile and a half from uni digs, though there's no pub in walking distance unless you're up for a 30-minute trek. I have a bad knee, but I was driving, so that wasn't an issue. I'd stay again, but not for £88. For that price, the bedside lamp shouldn't have been smashed, the toilet roll holder shouldn't have been fixed on only one side, the toilet shouldn't have been stained inside, the waterfall shower shouldn't have been missing bits, and the walls shouldn't have had black scuff marks all over. At £40, I'd have been fine with it. That was only one room, though, and the others could have been much better.
