The Gresham Aparthotel

The room was spacious and had all the amenities we needed. We couldn’t hear other guests through the walls, which gave us a welcome bit of privacy. On arrival, the staff greeted us warmly and had made towel swans and scattered rose petals around the bed. I really enjoyed the stay and will definitely come back. Thanks to all the lovely staff ☺️

The apartment was clean and roomy, with a comfortable mattress and a nice shower. There’s a decent bar downstairs, and the city centre location is great. Staff were all helpful and friendly. I’d asked for a quiet room over a lower floor if there was a lift, and was told that could be arranged. There was still a lot of street and neighborhood noise, with little soundproofing. Maybe that’s hard to avoid in the city centre. The apartment was also very cold, and turning up the heating made no difference. I booked a premium apartment, but the cooking setup is very basic. There’s a stovetop and microwave, though it’s really just suited to warming food: one frying pan, one cooking pan, and no toaster.

Dominique, the operations manager, made our stay better. She was so friendly, easy to talk to, and flexible about what we needed. She clearly knows what good customer service means, and is a real asset. The rest of the staff were friendly too, and the hotel had a calm, relaxing feel as soon as we arrived. Our room was clean, with a kitchenette that felt a bit odd to have, and the shower had great pressure and properly hot water. The food was delicious, though the choices were limited. The area isn’t the nicest: my two female colleagues didn’t feel safe walking from the car park to the hotel, about five minutes away, especially in the dark. The car park costs £20 overnight, though that’s not the hotel’s doing. Getting out of the city also took ages, about 30-40 minutes to travel 12 miles to the office on the outskirts. I’d recommend the hotel, but wish it were in a nicer part of town.

There’s plenty of space in the bedroom, including a microwave, fridge and sink, and there’s a lift to every floor. The hotel is large, stylish and comfortable, with helpful staff and a central location. It seemed good value, especially if you want to cater for yourself. I didn’t get on with the overhead shower, though, as I prefer a handheld one. Breakfast was good, with avocado and poached egg, but the continental selection wasn’t huge. Taxis can’t stop outside because the street is pedestrianised, so wait at the corner of Belvoir and Market St. The Cathedral, Richard lll and great shops are nearby.
