The Greyhound Hotel

We left straight away and refused to stay because of the cleanliness, the inaccurate advertising and the safety concerns, and we're currently seeking a full refund. On arrival, the room was dirty, with visible pubic hairs left in the bathtub, so it was clear it hadn't been properly cleaned. The room also didn't match the online description or photos at all. Outside, people we believed might be drug users or have serious issues were congregating, which felt intimidating and raised a clear health and safety concern. We did not feel safe. I'd strongly advise others to avoid this property.

They charged us £160 because there was a concert in town, and I really don't know where to begin. Don't get room 609. The website pictures must have been of the refurbished room, because ours looked nothing like them. I wasn't expecting much, something like a granny hotel, and that would have been fine. Instead, it was the worst hotel I've stayed in: stains all over the walls and ceiling, a bogey on the wall, broken switches, leaking radiators and antiquated furniture. It was basically a horror show.

The place is warm and cosy, quiet, and I enjoyed my stay. The staff were nice, though I felt they could use more positive spirit. It has a great location and good value, and I still think it has potential. It could be turned into a three-star hostel with a bit of low-cost renovation and TLC. I can see it's struggling, but charging a little extra to rent towels or use Wi-Fi might help the owner raise money for the work. I'd come back one day :-).

The room was very clean, with plenty of tea and coffee making facilities. The staff were welcoming and friendly, especially Hassan, who couldn't do enough for us. I'd definitely stay here again.
