The Bateman Arms

Simon and Vanessa were incredibly welcoming and accommodating. They were quick and helpful with our questions and confirmed the booking within a day of our web enquiry. We stayed in a twin room in the converted old coach house beside the pub. It was separate from the pub and lovely, with quality fittings and an ensuite walk-in shower. I needed a pet-free room because of allergies, and they arranged one without any fuss. Everything was super clean, from the bedding to the room's good extras: a good TV, tea and coffee facilities, a proper wardrobe and a desk and chair with enough room to use them. Even the windows opened, which is rare these days and a bonus for us. My husband also commented on the kettle, which easily held enough water for our two big mugs of tea. Breakfast was lovely, made just for us with ingredients from a local butcher, at a time that suited us, and served in a charming restaurant room. There's a nice lounge, plus a separate bar with a pool table and darts. Tasteful Christmas trees and a real fire roaring in the lounge made it all feel super cosy. A lovely experience all round. We couldn't have asked for better, and we'd give it 10 stars if we could. Thank you!

The staff were so friendly, and we had a lovely home-cooked dinner in a relaxed, informal setting.

The pub looks great, especially the cosy little dining area, and the staff made us feel very welcome. We tried the scampi and Bateman burger, both simple dishes but tasty and nicely presented. So glad to see the village pub open again. We'll be back!

We only stopped in for a drink, but the bar staff and owners were so welcoming and hospitable that we had a look at the menu and plan to return for a meal. It's clean and affordable, and there's a secure beer garden where dogs are welcome.
