The welcome was friendly, which was easily the best part of our stay at the Black Swan. We booked a weekend away at short notice, and while I've stayed in worse places, it's been a long time. Maybe the other reviews would have prepared me for it. There was a fight in the bar just as we arrived. Pubs do have the occasional scuffle, but this didn't feel like a rare occurrence. The corridors upstairs were a confusing rabbit warren, and the carpets needed hoovering. The doors could do with a scrub or even a repaint, and I hope the odd holes in the ceiling were just wear and tear, not signs that guests had tried to get out. Our room was spacious, with a nice double bed, but the very firm mattress let me feel the springs. I didn't sleep well. The stained carpet needed attention too, and there was a hole in the wall behind the door that made it seem like tempers and door slamming had happened there before. I had to hunt around for a socket to use the kettle, so I guess that's what the adjoining room is for. The bathroom was reached through a connected twin room, which meant plenty of space, but it needed care. There was a big cobweb on the ceiling, the shower grout was going black, and the retro 80s tiles made the place feel like it had seen better days. Old TV brackets were still on the wall while the screen sat on a table. The place was functional enough, but it felt short on care, attention and thought.

The Black Swan is a warm, comfortable place to stay when visiting Leominster, with decent rooms and a cosy pub. It's no Ritz, but you can see the effort the new ownership and management are putting in. Highly recommended.

We came to Leominster with my child expecting a basic but acceptable night at The Black Swan Inn. The friendly receptionist was the one bright spot. We found bed bugs all over the bedding, along with a broken bathroom door that my child couldn't open or close. We left straight away and booked somewhere else so we could get some sleep. The receptionist said we'd get a refund, but no refund came. The owner never answered our messages or Booking.com, either. We paid for a night in a room we didn't use and got no response. I'd strongly recommend avoiding this place unless paying for someone else's bed bug collection sounds like your idea of a holiday.

The rooms were decent and the staff welcomed us warmly, but the rest of the place was horrible. The stairwells were cramped and clearly hadn't been painted for ages, and empty paint tins were piled about. You couldn't access the car park from the rear of the building. I needed an early night before an early start, but a rock band was playing in the garden, so that wasn't possible.

I booked a room with its own bathroom and stayed Saturday and Sunday as an alternative to camping at a nearby festival. There were no issues. The room was much bigger and nicer than I'd expected for one above a pub, with a good shower and comfortable bed. It's a lovely little pub and hotel in the middle of a small village, and the staff were friendly. I'd recommend it.
