The Cross Inn

We went last night without a reservation, and the staff did a brilliant job finding us a table. The meal was delicious, and it's a friendly little country pub with a well-stocked bar.

There were six of us for dinner on Saturday, and it was the best meal out I've had in ages. The small menu is done really well. Everything was cooked nicely, especially the range of vegetables, which made a welcome change from the usual salad or peas. We'll come back next time we're in the area.

We booked dinner for my daughter's birthday and were really pleased with how the food looked and tasted. It's not the cheapest place, but the quality made the extra cost worthwhile. My steak was perfectly medium rare, which plenty of places seem to get wrong, and the puddings looked gorgeous and tasted great. I'm lucky to live just 20 minutes away, and I'll be back soon.

The locals were chatty and helpful, adding to the lovely atmosphere and service. We had a 60 day aged steak with beautiful trimmings, followed by a perfect pannacota, and the butty Bach beer was served at just the right temperature. The food, atmosphere and service were sublime. Thank you.
