Amanda and her son have thought of all the essentials and little extras, and the room feels fresh as soon as you walk in. My single room was small but fully self-contained, with a fridge, microwave, coffee machine, kettle, a basket of free goodies and somewhere to sit with my coffee. The bathroom is downstairs, but it's roomy and clean, and even the towels are scented. I've stayed in Marriott's, Hilton's and The Fairmont's, yet Amanda's attention to detail made this one of my best stays. Her time as a councillor also means she can share thoughtful insights into the lives and problems of people in Shetland. Her tours are interesting and informative. Whenever I'm in Lerwick, this is where I'd book.

I came on my own and Amanda made me feel welcome, like part of the family. She's the host I could have hoped for, and the home is beautiful. Even the small touches, including a breakfast basket packed with food, made the stay feel just right. I'm already planning to return in a couple of years.

My wee room at Norlande Guest House was just right, really comfortable, and I thoroughly enjoyed my two days there. Amanda was a great host. On her recommendation, I tried the "Saffron" Indian restaurant and had the best curry I'd had in ages. I wouldn't change a second of the visit.

Had a great chat with the owner, who's lovely and full of suggestions for bars and places to eat. This is a lovely little guest house/hotel, about a five-minute walk from the centre of Lerwick. I'll definitely come back on my work visits to Shetland.

I spent two weeks here in September and had a fabulous stay. The room was super comfortable, the location is central, and Amanda is a fantastic host. I'd highly recommend Amanda and Norlande Guest House for a visit to Shetland.
