Orchard House

We were keen to get out walking before check-in, but torrential rain put an end to that. Luckily, our room was ready early, and the hosts welcomed us warmly. The village is lovely, with a friendly local pub just a few yards away and the renowned Wensleydale heifer for exceptional food. Our room had two armchairs, a very comfortable bed, homemade cookies, fresh milk, and a proper wardrobe instead of one of those flimsy hanging racks. Kirsteen's porridge with fruit coulis and granola was out of this world, and her homemade jams were great too. Roddy cooked a perfect Scottish breakfast. They're both so friendly and know the area well, with plenty of tips on walks, places to visit, and places to eat. Thanks for a lovely stay, we'll definitely return.

The views are brilliant, and the place is beautifully clean. Kirsteen and Roddy are perfect hosts, with excellent homemade biscuits and jams and great breakfasts. Kirsteen knows so much about the area and where to go. They do everything they can to help you feel safe from covid. There's a little friendly pub nearby that serves good food. We felt totally relaxed and are looking forward to going back.

We were in the area to clear a relative's house, and our hosts gave us lots of useful advice about local services. They made us feel welcome the whole time. The room was spacious and very comfortable, and the accommodation is great in a wonderful location. Breakfast, especially the Full Scottish, was amazing. We'd give The Old Vicarage six stars if we could, and we strongly recommend it. We'll be back!
