There was no litter on the path or rubbish in the water, and the whole route was beautifully looked after. It was my first walk here, but I’ve found a new spot for taking my dog and getting some time to myself.

The train ride into Edinburgh was really convenient, which mattered most to us. We slept well, and when we arrived at 2:30 am, the owner had kindly left the front door open and the hall light on. She was friendly, though her partner less so. We stayed two nights, which turned out to be one too many. The room felt small and dated, with no Wi-Fi and a TV that didn’t work. The bathroom was tiny, awkward to use, and not modern. Breakfast was mediocre at best: the coffee was very weak, and the butter wasn’t kept chilled, so we left it untouched.
