On 30/05/26, the service was diabolical. I’ve never had customer service this awful. The food was mediocre, but the bar staff’s attitude completely ruined it. I’d be horrified if they were representing my business or brand. The tall fella at the bar seemed like he’d never dealt with another human being, and was perhaps the worst of the lot.

After driving 320 miles, all I needed was a meal, and the food was just the best. The Sunday roast with its trio of meats was delicious, and the salted caramel cheesecake pudding was amazing. The Merlot was so good I bought a bottle on my way out. Atmosphere, staff and food were second to none. Thank you, I can’t recommend this place enough.

We all cleared our plates. We had chicken, haggis and vegetarian burgers, plus fish and chips. The portions were generous and the food tasty. My sons’ girlfriends are from other countries with excellent cuisine, and they really enjoyed it. The waitress even remembered our orders without writing them down, which was impressive. Staff were welcoming, too. I’m reviewing the restaurant only, since we’re local and didn’t stay. We booked a table for five for my sons’ birthday, between Christmas and New Year. The menu was reduced because of stock availability, which was a shame as the regular menu has a good vegetarian selection. Still, the vegetarian option had a choice of burger. The restaurant and pub feel modern but also cosy and traditionally comfortable. I’d been to the pub side a few times with friends, but never for a meal. There was no room for dessert, but we’ll be back for another visit.

We went for my son's birthday. The steak pie was tough and dry, the burgers were cold, and the kids’ meal was rotten. Service was very poor, nobody checked whether the food was okay, and the manager had a poor attitude. We only got 20% off the bill. Definitely won’t be back.
