The Rectory Rooms, Studio 4

I left The Rectory Studios still feeling unwell, and I'm convinced the dirty conditions aggravated my asthma. My partner and I stayed from 27th to 29th October and were extremely disappointed by the cleanliness and the whole experience. We travelled more than five hours from Charney Bassett, arrived late and went straight to bed. The next morning I woke with a wheezy chest. I have severe asthma and first blamed the cold weather, but the longer we spent in the room, the clearer it became that the air quality and hygiene were poor. There was thick dust on the mirrors, kitchen stools and other surfaces, a filthy carpet, and a large stained chair badly hidden under cushions. It didn't look as though the place had been properly cleaned in a while. For accommodation listed on Booking.com, this was below an acceptable standard. When we raised it, the host said we should have messaged sooner so they could move us, then offered £20, later £40, which felt dismissive. After we mentioned writing a review, they withdrew the offer and said to take it up with Booking.com instead. The stay was deeply disappointing and unhygienic, and the property wasn't as advertised. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone with health concerns or basic expectations of cleanliness. I'm now perusing this with booking.com under the consumer act 2015.

No.4 had everything we needed this weekend. It was immaculate, warm and had a comfy bed. Such a fantastic spot, and we had a wonderful stay!

A warm, comfortable studio with everything you need for a short break. There's no cooker in the kitchen, but I wasn't there to make meals.

This was my 7th stay, and I still love it here. Gorgeous Studios in a perfect setting.
