Abbeyfield Guesthouse

My sister and I were left in a difficult spot when our booking at another guest house fell through. We called the owner of Abbeyfield, who quickly arranged a room for us. The service was excellent, and we’re extremely grateful. It was clean, warm, and quiet, just what we needed. Thank you.

We only booked here because our original accommodation cancelled, and honestly, we won’t return. It was for two nights around Saturday’s match, for me, my dad, and my son. You’d think there’d be beds for three, but we had to share one bed both nights because the sofa bed was disgusting. The spare sheets were stained mattress protectors, not proper sheets, and the duvet had no cover. There were only two towels for the three of us. We got very little sleep, and the stay was neither pleasant nor comfortable. There were signs asking for quiet from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m., yet kids were running around, people were talking loudly, and doors were banging at 5 a.m. on Saturday, then again around 3 a.m. this morning. For the price, it was very disappointing to be uncomfortable and get little to no rest.

Tom was really good at communicating while we were working away and staying at the guest house. The rooms were warm and clean, and although parking is on the street, we always found a spot. The area was nice and quiet, though there isn’t much around, so location is a very minor downside. I’d highly recommend it.

The house is beautiful and full of character. Tom was so helpful throughout and went out of his way to make things easy for us. I’d happily stay again, though softer pillows would be a welcome improvement. Thanks for a wonderful visit. ❤️
