Childwall Abbey, by Marstons Inns

The staff were friendly and helped us find our way around Liverpool. Our room was clean and smelled fresh, and the hotel itself was adorable. There was a pleasant restaurant and bar downstairs, plus different events for anyone wanting something to do without going out. Even with all that happening, it never disturbed our rest.

The room was modern, clean and lovely, with comfortable beds and pillows. It’s a nice little pub with rooms, good prices and really helpful, lovely staff. I even liked the locals. Breakfast was worth the wait, though service was super slow. There was only one key for our family room, which was awkward for me and my sister. The bathroom was quite dated, and there were just two electrical sockets. The mirror was across the room, which wasn’t great when doing my hair. The food was okay, and the pub’s drinks selection was limited: no Tia Maria, Kahlua or sambuca, so we couldn’t have Baby Guinness shots at our celebration of life. If you don’t want Jamie's or Jagermeister, raising a glass was a bit disappointing.

We’ll be back. The breakfast was great, and Dawn the chef makes an amazing omelette. Manager Steve was also great and helped me follow up on problems with the Marstons App, which is nowhere near as good as Childwell Abbey in real life. The rooms are very comfortable, the bedshower was great, and the room has everything you need. Room 4’s masorator is very noisy, though, and the decor is tired. Those things weren’t enough to put us off.

Free parking was a bonus, and the food was really nice. Best of all, we got 40% off the bill. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the room was very clean and tidy. Would highly recommend. Thank you 😊
