Citystays Rooms

I liked being able to walk to the places I wanted to visit, and the side-street parking was free. The room and bathroom were nice, and it felt clean and safe. I could relax without worrying and would definitely stay again. Just a heads-up, the property looks like a townhouse that blends in with the others, so slow down and check the Bldg numbers.

The telephone staff were really rude about my booking through booking.com. They wouldn't let me merge the call with the booking.com team, who were just trying to resolve the issue.

The mattresses are the main problem for me. They're poor quality and creak a lot, which is strange since it's usually the bedframe that makes that noise. If you're light, you might not notice much, but I'm a 100kg fat white man and moving or sitting down makes me feel like I'm 200kg. Otherwise, the stay is fairly positive and things are pretty much as you'd expect. The price isn't extortionate, but at least eight hotels right in the city centre cost the same or up to 50% less, depending on dates and events. Examples include heetons concept hotel, atlantic tower, nearly all travel lodge hotels, adelphi hotel, and tune hotel. I've never seen city-centre hotels cheaper than B&Bs outside the centre, in a postcode statistically described as fairly poverty-stricken, with a 1-star safety rating according to https://streetscan.co.uk/postcode/l8-1un. Maybe there's a reason for it. One specific example: the night I stayed at heetons hotel on james st, it cost £37, while a room here was £58. Prices aren't fixed and fluctuate like everywhere else on booking.com and similar sites.
