Heeton Concept Hotel City Centre Liverpool

The service was fine, and the place felt professional with plenty of guests. There was a good mix of people around, from young people and families to older guests. I’m not sure how suitable it is for disabled access, though. It’s about an 11-minute walk from Lime Street. The hotel is simple, very clean and has a modern touch. The bathroom looked good but felt a bit cramped. The carpet had some stains, but I paid £91 for two nights and a double bed, so I can live with that.

James Street station is right next door, and the location is excellent. The room was really spacious, the bed was comfortable and the shower was great. Of the budget hotels I’ve tried in central Liverpool, this one’s easily the best. I’ll stay again.

The price and fairly convenient location were the only real positives. At first I thought, “you get what you pay for,” and since it was just one night I hadn’t planned to leave a review. But when I went to shower, there wasn’t any shower gel at all, which seems like a basic thing to provide. It was disappointing. It was already late and we were exhausted, so we took a quick shower and let it go. The room also had no TV remote. The bathtub tap’s diverter switch was missing, and the ceiling light over the shower didn’t work. Neither did the corridor light outside our room. There was a fire door before the room that slammed extremely loudly. We kept hearing guests pass by and the door bang shut again and again throughout the night.

The location is great, but that was about the only good thing. Breakfast was very, very poor: just some cereal, too few bowls, and nothing hot unless you reheated cold pancakes or made toast from some kind of bread roll. There weren’t enough chairs either. The room floor hadn’t been cleaned properly, and only one lift was working. Should I go on? Fawlty was luxury next to this place. I’d give this hotel no more than two stars.
