It’s been a while since I stayed here, last time was in 2024, so I had a chance to look at it with fresh eyes. The staff are still excellent, as I remembered. They recognise you and are always accommodating, so nothing but praise for them. The location works well too, not far from Castle Street for food or Moorfields if you need a train, and there’s good parking nearby. The restaurant has recently moved on from Marco Pierre White to an in-house setup called Chapel + Barrel. I’m not sure about it yet. It has potential, but needs to build its part more to draw people in. Marco had name recognition, which this doesn’t. The chicken burger was nice, though, and they should make more of the front terrace in summer. The bar is decent, and there’s a good fitness room. The rooms are the big concern. Most are very compact, so you’ll want a premium room if you need more space. You do get soft drinks included, plus a couple of beers in the premium rooms. The hotel has about 140 rooms, I think, and was built around 2007. The decor in the bedrooms looks that old and feels very tired. The common areas above the ground floor also haven’t been touched since it opened. It all needs a refurbishment. I know that costs money, and the price partly reflects the condition, but with so many new hotels in the city at the same or lower price, the difference really stands out. I have a lot of nostalgia for the place and don’t think it’s bad. I’d stay again and recommend it, but manage your expectations. They need to update the rooms soon.

The location was good for the city centre and docks, and the nearby NCP liverpool central car park was only a three-minute walk away, with a hotel discount. But I come to Liverpool regularly for work and wouldn’t stay here again. I booked because of the good reviews, and had never tried the Indigo chain before. On arrival, it felt like IHG’s budget option, more like a travelodge, with worn hallway carpets and cheap-looking room decor. There were bits of mould in the shower, broken flooring, and hair left by previous guests. Breakfast was a continental buffet, while hot food and coffee had to be ordered. The service was incredibly slow, and I’d much rather serve myself. I brought these issues up with reception, but the staff just stared blankly at me. At check-in they also mentioned a complimentary mini bar, which was disappointing: it had only water and one can of diet coke.

They let us check in early without charging extra, and the staff were super friendly and welcoming. Our room was clean and lovely, with a really comfy bed and a great shower and bathroom. The food was delicious, and there’s a nice bar and restaurant at the hotel. A great experience all round. I’d definitely recommend it and stay again.

The location was great, but we were really disappointed with the stay. The toilet, sink, and shower kept blocking, and we had a lot of problems with the TV and Wi-Fi. We’d asked the staff to arrange something in the room for a birthday and were assured they’d help, but when we arrived there was nothing.

A nice, very clean hotel in Liverpool’s historic area. The rooms are a comfortable size, neither big nor small. Breakfast tasted good, though there wasn’t a huge selection.
