The hotel is right in the centre, surrounded by great bars and restaurants, and booking early can get you a good price. I was upgraded to a premium room when I arrived, which was a lovely welcome to Liverpool. The staff I met were friendly and efficient. My room had a Beatles theme that gave it some character, and everything was clean. It had all the basics I needed, including a hairdryer, iron, tea and coffee facilities, bottled water, a dressing gown, and slippers. I also appreciated the security: you need to swipe your room key to get into the hotel and use the lifts.

The hotel is spotless, nicely designed, and a great value, with a wonderful team. Virginia at the front desk was especially helpful. It's just across the road, around the corner, and a few minutes' walk into the centre. The room was cold on our first night, but when we asked for a heater, one was put in and switched on while we were out. That made it much more comfortable.

I've stayed here before, and just returned from another trip in room 504. The rooms are decent for the price, the beds are comfortable, the pillows seem a bit small, and free coffee is a bonus. It's also well located for the centre and for work. Despite a few issues, I'd use the hotel again. Check-in has been a problem on both visits. This time I was told to sit and wait, then staff checked in people who arrived after me. They need a better process. The bathroom sink drained very slowly, and the air conditioning made a loud clicking sound, so I switched it off to sleep. The kettle wouldn't switch off after boiling, which seems a health and safety concern. The floor by the bed was very dusty and there were hairs in the shower. I photographed the TV's cracked bezel because the TV in my previous room had the same damage, and I didn't want to be charged for it. I reported the problems when leaving. The person I spoke with said they'd look into the blocked sink.

The room we were given was adapted for disabled guests, but the heating didn't work properly. It was -1°C outside, and the room wouldn't warm up. The shower was worse: every time I tried, only cold water came out. Standing in that freezing room under cold water felt like torture. I told a woman at reception, who said she'd come up in 5 minutes to check. I waited more than an hour, but she never came. When I went back, she said the water heats to a maximum of 42 degrees because of the risk of disabled guests hurting themselves. That would make sense if the water had been 42 degrees, but it was cold. She kept insisting it was 42 and said there was nothing she could do because the hotel was fully booked. She didn't even come upstairs to check what I was reporting. We emailed the manager to explain what happened. She replied that we'd been offered another room and refused it. I wouldn't have turned down a room with hot water and working heating. Either the manager or the staff was lying. We replied and never heard from her again, with no apology or compensation. First I was left waiting for over an hour, then our report was dismissed, and disabled guests were left to take cold showers. This was the worst hotel I've ever stayed in.

Really central for sightseeing and shopping, and I had a great overnight stay. The staff were lovely and helpful. They didn't have oat milk at breakfast, so they even shared some of their own with me. Mavis at the front desk was especially nice.
