Merchant Quarters

We booked Flat 29 at the last minute after our original accommodation fell through. It worked for what we needed, since we mostly just used the apartment in the evenings. The location is a real plus for a family stay, near the dock, within walking distance of the town centre, pubs and restaurants. But the flat needs a lot of care, especially given it sits above a very nice Malmaison. The building’s lifts and shared areas look run down, and there are marks on the walls, floors and doors from previous guests. The entry lock looked as if someone had tried to break in. The sofas were badly worn and stained, and the interior needs updating. The main bathroom shower leaked through the ceiling whenever switched on, and somehow soaked the floor even with the doors closed. The listing mentioned free Wi-Fi and a hairdryer, but the Wi-Fi didn’t work and there was no hairdryer. For somewhere advertised as 4⭐ with a 25+ age restriction, it was very subpar. The accommodation clearly gets a lot of use, and it shows.
