Premier Inn Liverpool City - Albert Dock

My son and daughter stayed here for Liverpool Comiccon and loved it, especially having dinner at the hotel. The restaurant staff were friendly and really helpful. I only dropped them off, but liked how the hotel fits into the old Albert Dock, with the brick arches left exposed in the rooms. The restaurant setup was unusual for a Premier Inn: it's on the first floor and only hotel guests can use it. You have to check in and get a key card at reception downstairs to open the door.

The room was comfortable, and the staff were exceptionally friendly. We also loved the original details in this historic building, right in the centre. The discounted car park is about a 10-minute walk away. That was fine during our stay, but a bit of a trek when we had luggage to carry to and from the hotel.

The entrance opens right onto the docks, and the location is perfect. I liked the old brickwork, though the hotel itself feels dated and creaky, with plenty of wear and tear. Our room was spacious and fairly clean, but the dockside windows were too dirty to see much through. The woman serving at the bar at night was lovely and gave my kids Christmas cookies and sweets. Most of the better draft beers had run out, though. Breakfast service wasn't as good: the full English buffet was nearly empty, and we had to wait for it to be replenished.

Both women working tonight, 21st Jan, were wonderful with us, even though they were run off their feet. Olivia at reception gave my little boy some gifts when he wasn't feeling well. They both gave such great service. Lovely hotel, rooms and location, and those two deserve a raise! xxx
