Selina Liverpool

We’ve stayed in Selina hostels in several countries, and this was the worst by far. The staff were okay, but not welcoming. Though the hostel was quiet, they put the few guests into the same cramped dorm, with no space for luggage. Nothing was cleaned during our stay. There was just one toilet and shower for eight people, which caused tension, and the bathroom stayed dirty, with hair around the sink and shower and a toilet seat that wasn’t attached. The walls were so thin there was barely any privacy. Not worth even the low price.

The price was good and I'd stay again. The bunks were nice and the staff were pleasant, but no padlocks were provided for the lockers. Nearby shops didn't have the right kind either, so you'll need a small lock with wires. The street felt a little scary heading toward the city centre, though it was absolutely fine in the direction of the university. Bring flip flops.

We stayed on 25/06 and were impressed. Great value and a fantastic location, with clean, nice rooms and a really comfortable bed. The room got very bright early in the morning, so we woke up early, but luckily we weren't hungover. We'll book again.

The staff were lovely and the location was perfect, but the noise all night left my partner and me with less than three hours of sleep. We stayed during a Liverpool home match weekend, so prices were obviously higher. This seemed like the cheapest decent looking hotel near the centre, but £207 for one night was far too much. I also paid £18 extra for breakfast and was really disappointed. There's no menu, just a standard continental breakfast. The drinks order was taken quickly, and the man said he'd bring it over. They came in about two minutes, but my latte was basically iced coffee. The food arrived half a minute later: half a ham and cheese wrap, a stale croissant, and a kid-sized portion of porridge. I have a severe nut allergy, and the porridge was covered in nuts, so neither of us could eat it. I wouldn't pay more than £40 for a night here, and I won't choose the breakfast again. Incredibly dissatisfied.
