Sheil Suites

Digital nomads will appreciate the fast Wi-Fi, and the room and bathroom were both spacious and clean. The location was great too. Having to check in at another hotel wasn't a problem, and the staff had explained it ahead of the stay. This place deserves a much better rating. I'll come back!

The rooms didn't feel safe, with combination locks instead of keys and no deadbolts or other way to lock them from inside. The check-in arrangements weren't explained on the booking site or confirmation email: it was at another hotel 15-20 minutes away on foot, not at Sheil Suites. We called reception and got an incorrect address, without the hotel's name, so we first went to an unrelated residential property. The payment terms in the email also weren't followed. It said 20% would be charged on booking and the rest seven days before arrival, but the full amount was taken at check-in. Staff couldn't check whether anything had already been charged and said we'd have to contact them afterwards if we'd been overcharged. Once we finally got into the room, it was set up with twin beds even though we'd requested a double. There were no towels except two hand towels, the shower was cold, and neither the shower door nor bathroom door closed properly. I wouldn't recommend it because of the poor service.

The road beside the apartment was pretty noisy, and the room wasn't very nice. The couch had lots of spots, more lights were broken than working, and the floor made a poor impression. The toilet was okay. The place was too expensive for what it was, and I wasn't told in advance that, with no reception, I needed to go to Beech Mount Hotel to get my room codes. At Sheil Suites, the Wi-Fi didn't work at all, even after I called reception to let them know.

The rooms were clean and quiet, but very minimal for the price. I'd probably choose a proper hotel next time. There isn't a reception or on-site staff apart from cleaners, so make sure you have the entry codes before arriving. Taxi drivers told me the hotel was in the red light district. I hardly saw any of that activity, though, and certainly none in the hotel.
