Stables Inn Aintree

The location is great, parking is decent, and you can walk to a Toby carvery or a gym. Friendly, helpful staff welcomed us on arrival. The room let the stay down, though. It’s well overdue for an update, the mattress was very uncomfortable, and the bathroom had a chipped bath and stained sealant around the toilet. I noticed a skip in the car park, so maybe they’re updating the rooms.

I booked Stables Inn Aintree a month and a half ahead, then got a call just two days before the stay saying the room wasn’t available because of a plumbing issue. That was incredibly frustrating after I’d planned around the booking. When I spoke with Kloe, she didn’t offer another room. She just said the hotel was fully booked and they couldn’t help further. What’s the point of booking early if guests can be turned away at the last minute? Completely unprofessional and poorly managed. I won’t book here again.

It feels like Liverpool’s hidden gem. The hotel is clean, comfortable and quiet, and everyone on the team is friendly and helpful. There’s always a team member around at night, which is reassuring. It’s right next to Aintree.

Free parking was the only real plus for us. There are no food facilities, and I wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it. The room looked nothing like the online photos. Both the room and bathroom felt very dated. One of the two TVs had a badly damaged screen that seemed unsafe, especially for children, and the other wasn’t set up to work. Neither the room heating nor the bathroom towel rail worked. The power tripped three times overnight. I reset it each time, but when it went again in the morning I couldn’t get it back on and had to complain. Staff already knew about the room’s problems but had still let it out. They moved us to another room eventually, though the staff seemed cold and unconcerned, with no real apology or effort to put things right. The place was cheap, but the service and room quality felt just as cheap.
