The Castle Collection - 42 Castle Street

The apartments were clean and fine for a one-night stay, but there were hundreds of pigeons on the roof making noise all night, so we couldn't sleep. We arrived to find the lift broken and our apartment on the top floor, with no warning from staff.

There's no tea or coffee provided, which was a little disappointing, but Sainsbury's is right next door for all your bits and bobs, with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. It's a short walk to Mathew street, where you can spend the day and night singing and dancing, and the Liverpool pub around the corner does an amazing breakfast. The docks are also an easy walk away. The apartment is modern and lovely, with everything you'd need for a short or long stay in Liverpool. It's in a great spot for all your favourite places, and we'd absolutely stay here again.

Really big apartment, spotless clean, and in a brilliant location. Communication was great and getting into the apartment was easy.

There was black mould on the towels. After spending one night there, I asked if I could check out early without being charged for the remaining nights. They said they'd give me new towels, but if I left, they'd still charge the full amount and give me no refund. I explained that black mould is a contaminant and that new towels don't get rid of the bacteria it emits. They said someone would come in 20 minutes. An hour later, someone showed up with new towels, handed them over and barely said a word before leaving. I called back and they said they'd given me new towels, that was all they'd do, and if I left they'd keep my money. I left straight away and am now trying to sort this out through booking.com. Absolutely appalling. Never stay here.
