The food was a joy to look forward to each evening, and Ray has a great selection of whiskies and beers that introduced us to several new ones. On my first visit with a four-person motorcycle group, Ray and Janet welcomed us warmly and took time to share local touring advice. The location worked perfectly for our bike trips, and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. I’m looking forward to returning this year. Highly recommended.

Breakfast was delicious and generous, and the optional evening meal was superb value. The en-suite bedroom was delightful, with a mountain view, fresh decor, and two armchairs for relaxing, which you don’t often find. There was a good range of hot drinks and Wi-Fi above 50 Mbps. Perfect hosts, highly recommended.

Ray, Janet, the staff and so many locals and regulars have always made me feel welcome. I’ve been coming to The Lion for over 20 years, mostly with other motorcyclists but sometimes with my family. A great wee place.

I was working nearby and stayed for one night. The room had everything I expected, and the owners were very friendly. The pub is small, but filled up quickly for the evening quiz. I enjoyed the food, especially the curry, and there was plenty of choice at breakfast. I’d recommend it as a nice place to stay while working in the area.

We stopped in for a couple of pints while staying at a glamping site nearby. The staff were friendly, and we really liked the place. There’s a beautiful outdoor garden where you can sit and relax with a drink. We had a great time.
