The staff were friendly, and we liked that the place is dog friendly. It's also full of motoring memorabilia, which was a big plus for us. We stopped in for lunch while staying nearby, and the food was excellent: lovely flavour combinations, nicely presented, and generous portions. I didn't give five stars because the menu is a little small, with only one vegetarian main. We were there for a week and would have returned, but my partner would have had to order the same meal again. It was lovely, but it's nice to try something different.

The evening meal was lovely, beautifully cooked and presented, and the two people serving us were friendly and professional. We spent a pleasant evening there on a cold February night. Our room was spotlessly clean, though very small. For one night it was fine, but breakfast was awkward because we had to eat it on the bed. There was a perfectly good space downstairs in the pub that could have been used instead.

Service was top quality, and the venue was cosy with reasonable prices. They had good beers on draught and an easy-drinking Malbec as the house red. A fantastic gastro pub in an idyllic setting, serving classic British pub food made beautifully with top-quality ingredients and a strong focus on local suppliers.

The service was first class, and the interior and surroundings were lovely. We came for a birthday meal with my partner, and the fish and chips were the best I've ever had: beautiful fish, melt-in-the-mouth batter, homemade tartae sauce and a huge pile of crunchy homemade chips. I couldn't finish them. The peas had a little hint of crushed garlic. My partner's sausage and mash looked beautiful too, and they struggled to finish it. Can't wait to visit again, would highly recommend.

I arrived muddy and bedraggled after a great day and a precarious, foggy late-night trip across the Berwins from midwales. I only popped in for a pint, but the warm welcome and great staff made me feel at home. It set me up for the month of idiocy coming my way this Feb. Thanks so much x
