Hampton

The bathroom was so cramped there was barely room to stand, and I could hear the person in the next room snoring all night through the poor sound insulation. Every movement made the bed creak, so sleeping was impossible. I wouldn't rate this hotel at even one star. To me, it was worth no more than £10 a night.

The ensuite room had a kettle and coffee sachets, which I appreciated. The bed was very firm and left my back uncomfortable, and there was a strong smell of smoke throughout the hotel and corridors. Conversations from the hallway and next door came through clearly, and the WiFi repeatedly dropped out. There was no bathroom soap or hand wash, and no iron. It was cold at night because there was no heater. I also couldn't get through on the hotel's listed phone number to let staff know I would arrive late. The ensuite and coffee were small positives, but the missing basics and poor upkeep made the stay uncomfortable.

We found the hotel a bit rough. The bedding was dirty, the room hadn't been cleaned, and old beer glasses had been left there. When we tried to get in touch, nobody was available, so we drove an hour to stay somewhere else.

Breakfast was nice, and the clean bed was comfortable. They had a kettle and tea things in the room. I brought my own soap, though you can ask for some at reception. The wardrobe was flimsy and coming apart. Some noisy guests arrived at 2am and I could hear them pretty clearly, but oh well.
