Stag Coach House

We stayed for three nights and had a good time. The room was clean, the bed was very comfortable and the shower had great pressure. Breakfast was great too. The owners were really friendly and made a fuss of our fox red lab, George.

The cooked breakfast was great, and the room and facilities were clean. I brought my two Labradors, and there was no extra charge for them. The staff were friendly and professional, and nothing seemed too much trouble. It was fantastic value, and I'd definitely recommend it.

We cancelled our three night booking and found somewhere much better. The rooms we were shown were small and not very clean, with hair on the beds. They were above an abandoned bar and had apparently been staff dormitories. There was no WiFi in the rooms, even though it had been promised, and we were told those were the last rooms available when we asked to move. While we tried to sort it out through the booking agent, a man came up aggressively and told us to pay or leave, threatening to call the police. The woman, who was probably the landlady, suggested the hair on the beds was ours. Not a good experience at all.

I really loved the hosts. They were so warm and welcoming that I'd happily visit again. We went away for our engagement break, though, and my partner and I had to share one single bed while Bella, our shar-pei, had the other to herself. The room was a little chilly, with no heating option. The kettle was broken, so we had to ask for another one. The room was okay, but the bathroom floor was broken and the towels were a bit ripped and old.
