The Clochfaen

Breakfast was superb and made to suit what you asked for. I was disappointed with the room, though. It was very small, with little or no drawer or wardrobe space, no ensuite, and no washing facilities. I also couldn't open the window for fresh air, which matters to me because I like to sleep with it open. The place is very isolated, down a single-track road; it's on the right where the road is marked cul de sac.

Clochfaen’s main house is a lovely little Arts and Crafts country house, and the countryside setting by the Wye near Llangurig is wonderfully peaceful. After a day walking or cycling locally, the comfortable accommodation feels especially cosy, with heating and hot water from a Rayburn cooker/boiler. I’ve been visiting the Llanidloes area for over 25 years, and this was one of the best breakfasts I’ve had there. A real find, with a warm welcome. I’d happily return.

The bedroom was clean and comfortable, and breakfast was top notch. The proprietor was really friendly and managed to fit me in at short notice. Highly recommend.

I've stayed at the cottage four times over the past year and have just booked another visit for Easter. It's a perfect base for any kind of motorcycling holiday.
