I stay in a lot of hotels, and this one was fab. The shower was great, and we left early the next morning to climb and work on Snowdon. Before that, we walked into town for supplies from the Co op, then had a lazy supper by the window watching the world go by. I got lucky with a super comfortable four poster room and a lovely view. There’s road noise if you don’t mind it, but if you do, I’d choose a room at the back. We arrived after a busy day working, and the chap I spoke to explained clearly how to get into our rooms.

The location was brilliant, and there was plenty of parking. The bedding and towels were very clean, and the bed was comfortable. There was plenty of tea and coffee, plus a small honesty fridge in one of the reception rooms where you could buy soft drinks, wine, beer and snacks. Still, we were quite disappointed by the room, which needed a deep clean. The skirting boards and cables were dusty, the carpet and bathroom floor needed a good vacuum, and there was hair in the shower drain. The bathroom also needs updating.

There’s a nice village nearby with good places to eat, and the hotel is in a great area for walking. It’s quiet and privately run, with polite, helpful staff. The room was clean and had adequate provisions, and the level car park has a pleasant outlook across fields to the mountains. The winding, narrow stairs may make access difficult if walking is an issue, as it’s a period property.

Dinner was excellent and great value, and breakfast was lovely, cooked to order and just what we needed before climbing Snowdon. The service was first class, with nothing too much trouble, and communication was great. I accidentally left some belongings behind, but they posted them to me without any fuss. We had a brilliant weekend at this wonderful hotel and will definitely come back.

Nelson, the hotel owner, was so friendly and really helpful in pointing out beautiful nearby places to visit. We found this gem in North Wales while staying in a fantastic location, close to two of the most beautiful waterfalls I’ve ever seen. We had an amazing stay and would recommend it without hesitation.
