Ty'n Ffridd

Our first impression of Ty'n Ffridd was badly affected by a long, stressful check-in, though once we got inside, it was a lovely stay. We booked through Hotels.com for 11.-13. of August. The house was modern, exceptionally clean and tidy, spacious and well appointed. The generous bathroom facilities, including the master en-suite, were a real highlight. It's near the ocean in pleasant surroundings, and about a 10-minute drive from the nearest grocery store and town centre. Finding the right place took nearly an hour and involved searching in multiple vehicles. The address on our Hotels.com booking took us to the wrong location, as shown on the accompanying map. It looked like a similar property, possibly being renovated and next to a campsite. Local residents said it wasn't the main holiday house and wasn't finished. Ty'n Ffridd also appeared at several conflicting locations on Google Maps, so searching independently was unreliable and time-consuming. Someone in our party suggested looking near a local petrol station, which finally got us there. When we arrived, we couldn't get in because no key box code had been provided. We checked the confirmation email and other messages, but there was no code. Our calls to Hotels.com and the owner, using the number we had, initially went unanswered or were redirected to an emergency line that didn't respond either. Eventually we noticed a vehicle near the property and called a number linked to it. Thankfully, it connected us to the owner, who confirmed the code had been left out of the email and gave it to us over the phone. We finally got in after a very long day. All those initial problems wasted valuable holiday time. Based on this experience, I'd advise future guests to get precise directions from the owner or management before travelling, including a clear landmark or accurate GPS coordinates, and confirm the property's actual location given the conflicting online listings. Check a day or two beforehand that you've received the key box code and detailed entry instructions, and verify the best working contact number and a backup for your arrival time. A simple pre-arrival message could have saved us a lot of frustration. Otherwise, we had a lovely time❣️
