Breakfast was delicious, and the stay felt like great value. Katie, the manageress, was welcoming and seemed to be everywhere taking care of things. Our room made the most of the lovely view towards the lighthouse, and we never tired of looking out at it. Room 2 is a good choice if stairs are no problem. Such a lovely find in Port Appin, with gorgeous views across Loch Linnhe to Lismore.

The staff were friendly, the food was very good, and the views were outstanding. The room was where things fell short: its carpet was stained and dirty, paint was flaking off in the bathroom, and the door wouldn't secure. The manager said the lock was tricky and offered to lock it himself, but couldn't get it to work, so our valuables were left unsecured. We chose it because of the four-star rating, but it didn't meet that standard for us. At £280 a night, I'm afraid it wasn't worth the price.

The morning staff were thoughtful and really friendly, and the bed itself was clean with nice, large sheets. The rooms feel old and worn, especially the bathroom. Check-in was listed as available until 10 pm, but at 7:45 pm I got a call saying it depended on restaurant hours. I couldn't have known that, so the information wasn't good, even though staff did wait for me.

Katie deserves a special thank you for carefully sending my forgotten car key back to my home. We had a truly enjoyable stay at this beautiful hotel in a stunning setting. The rooms were comfortable and lovely, breakfast was delicious, and the service was excellent. Many thanks!

Breakfast had loads to choose from and was freshly cooked, and the host was really attentive. Our room was warm and cosy, with a beautiful view, though there was quite a bit of dust along the sides and the shower took ages to heat up. For the price, I think it's a great hotel. We had an amazing dinner at the old inn, which I'd recommend.
