For £73 a night in Marylebone over a bank holiday, we were happy enough with the room, though the low bed wasn’t very comfortable. It was small, but clean, and that’s what matters most to us. We spotted a bit of mould in the shower and the sink drained poorly. The mould in one corner wasn’t the end of the world, especially for a cheap room. The location was amazing, and the air conditioning was essential in yesterday’s 33-degree heat, particularly on the fourth floor. I’d been a little worried after reading the reviews, but we had a nice stay. Check-in was straightforward. There’s no sign outside, but we assumed it was the hotel because the door said 146. We’d come back for up to two nights, though I’d prefer a more comfortable mattress for a longer stay.

Baker Street tube station is only four minutes away, so getting into central London was easy. We were quite satisfied with our stay. The room had plenty of space, an ensuite bathroom, and a kitchenette, with tableware, cutlery, towels and a hairdryer provided. The coffee maker was broken, and the bathroom sink didn’t drain properly.

The bed was comfortable, the area was very good, and the price was good too. Coffee and tea were included. That’s about where the positives end. There was mould in the bathroom and hair on our towels. The bed was so short that my girlfriend, who is 1.72cm, didn’t fit. The water would randomly stop working in the morning. We weren’t given hand towels, even after the cleaners came, and there wasn’t a toilet brush. I wouldn’t book here again.

At €173 a night, the room needed to be comfortable and functional, and it wasn’t. The shower pressure was so low that showering was physically impossible. We reported it as soon as we arrived, but the owner said it was “normal for the area” and suggested running the water and trying again later. It made no difference. We asked to change rooms, but were told the property was fully booked and nothing could be promised, despite having booked and paid extra for a Double Studio. We had also expected the advertised room of about 14 m², with room to move around, a dining table, and a proper layout. Instead, we got a much smaller room that didn’t match the photos or description. The bed was against the wall, there was nowhere to open our suitcases properly, no dining table, and no room mirror, just a small one in the bathroom. Neither the property nor Booking.com offered a solution after we complained immediately and followed up. There was no room change, compensation, or meaningful reply. We left London disappointed, stressed, and feeling misled. The experience affected our holiday.
