2 Chesham Belgravia Hotel

We enjoyed the cosy room, comfortable bed, and breakfast, but I wouldn’t recommend this hotel for a stay with a baby. We’d requested a cot for our three-month-old, but it wasn’t in the room when we checked in. Staff brought a travel cot with a flimsy-looking base that didn’t seem safe to sleep in, and the bedding was wrinkled and smelled a little. We ended up sharing the big bed with our baby, which wasn’t ideal. We were put on the fourth floor, the highest one, but the lift only goes to the third. Carrying our pram up and down the narrow stairs was a real hassle and didn’t feel considerate. We’d also initially been promised a 1pm late checkout, then were told at the last minute it hadn’t been recorded or passed on at staff changeover. The nice guy at reception apologised and let us check out at noon.

The room was lovely and the cleanest I’ve ever seen. Great service, a delicious breakfast, and an excellent location too. I’ve stayed in London hotels many times, and this is the one I’d recommend first. I’ll come back for a leisure trip.

The Chesham in Belgravia has stunning decor and the food was perfectly acceptable, but the management ruined the atmosphere during my lunch. I watched the Food and Beverage Manager publicly berate a server more than once in the dining room. The feedback could have been given privately. The manager’s tone was condescending and frankly aggressive, and it was hard to enjoy a glass of wine while watching a hardworking server being belittled nearby. The woman looked terrified, and the tension made the service feel rushed and anxious instead of welcoming. I believe you can judge a business by how it treats people who can do nothing for it. Seeing such blatant disrespect at a luxury establishment is a major red flag. If staff are treated that way in public, I shudder to think what goes on behind closed doors. I’d never recommend staying at a hotel that allows this kind of toxic management. There are plenty of beautiful places in Belgravia where staff are treated like human beings. The staff were warm and friendly, and breakfast was honestly amazing. There were fresh, delicious options for different needs, and the hash browns deserve a special mention. 2 Chesham is the most comfortable hotel I’ve stayed at in London. It feels elegant and homely at once, on a quiet street but still a short walk from all the London highlights.
