The staff were really nice and accommodating. They let me put my bags in the room when I arrived early, and were kind enough to give me a first-level room, so I didn’t have to use stairs. They came by every day to tidy up, empty the rubbish and make the beds. The place felt safe and quiet, and the room was clean with comfortable beds. The hot pot was handy for tea and coffee. There were a few missing basics: I couldn’t find the TV remote, though I don’t watch much TV, and the soap dispensers had soap but no shampoo or conditioner, so my hair was frizzy after a hot shower. There was no microwave or refrigerator, but the location made it easy to find restaurants and bars nearby or bring food and drinks back. The main reception room was closed for all of my 9 days because of construction, though the noise was kept down. The front looked bland, without flowers or colour to make it welcoming. The men on staff greeted me, while the women just smiled. The walls were very thin, and I could hear the next-door guests talking at 4 am, which kept me awake that night. I should have said something, but didn’t feel it was my place. It’s a decent place if you don’t mind having no reception room, breakfast, views, shampoo or conditioner, or somewhere to hang out apart from your room.

This is a budget option in a great location, but be clear about how basic a stay you’re willing to accept. The staff were nice and even offered to carry our luggage up all four flights of stairs. There were no bed bugs in november 2025. The temperature never settled, swinging between unbearably cold and too warm. The linens and towels were very worn, with holes and stains. The furniture was dirty, and there were patches of black mold in several places in the shower. You could hear most things happening in other rooms, and the wifi was so slow it was almost unusable at times. There’s also a non-refundable booking fee of 35 GBP that isn’t mentioned anywhere, and their own website blocks traffic from the EU. The hotel claims the fee is mentioned on booking sites, but as of January 2026 I still couldn’t find it on Hotels.com. Even if you pay extra for a refundable booking, they’ll take this cost.

The hotel was quiet, with no noise or disturbances, and the rooms were toasty. We were glad to have a fan too. The price was good, and I’d stay again. We chose it for the location, which worked perfectly for us during our 2 night visit. Our room was spotless and smelled clean. The first room didn’t have bedside lamps, but when we asked, the staff moved us to one that did. They were friendly and helpful when we needed more milk and somewhere to leave our luggage after check-out.

The rooms are clean, a decent size and in a perfect location. I liked having a key to get in and out, but I wouldn’t stay again. The beds were rock hard, like sleeping on the floor. Limescale had clogged the shower head so badly that the water dribbled over the top. The plug sparked when things were plugged in, and the man checking us in at 6pm made us feel like we were bothering him. It seemed he’d been watching TV and wasn’t happy to come out.
