Abercorn House

The location is excellent, and I was happy with my clean room, though it was a little worn in places. I had a twin room on the ground floor, and outside noise wasn’t a problem. What did bother me was how thin the walls seemed between rooms and corridors, which disrupted my sleep a bit. Earplugs are a good idea. Some other reviewers seem to expect hotel quality, but it’s worth remembering this is a hostel.

The toilets and shower were filthy, and the receptionist wasn’t friendly at all. I stayed in a dorm and can’t say whether the private rooms are better. I needed a few hours of sleep, checked in quite late and left early. It was cheap enough for that, and I wasn’t expecting much. If you’re only staying a night and don’t plan to use the shower, the price may be fine.

London accommodation is expensive, so you get what you pay for here. The location was fantastic and the basic room was warm. Street noise was minimal, but we were opposite the laundry and staff started cleaning very early, which made a lot of noise. We could also hear other guests in the hall and stairwell, along with doors shutting, very loudly from the room. Definitely bring earplugs.

We had a fantastic two-night stay and recommend the hotel for its good quality for the price. It’s well located near Hammersmith station. We arrived very late, but the friendly, attentive staff welcomed us warmly. The room was comfortable and had a small table for eating. The bathrooms were fine, with spacious showers that worked well.
