Aloft by Marriott London Excel

I came back to Aloft London Excel recently and had another comfortable, easy stay. The team's warm service made a real difference, and operational manager Alexandros Tsarnas deserves credit for keeping standards high across the hotel. Anuska at reception was always smiling and brought a lovely positive energy. Sagar Singh, the duty manager, was kind and professional, took care with my room allocation, and gave me a late checkout until 16:00. That helped my trip a lot. The team's attention to guests is what makes this place memorable, whether you're here for business or leisure. I've already told others about my experience and will certainly return. Thank you for making the stay special.

After a 14-hour flight from Singapore, it was a huge help that Mr Kay at check-in got my room ready even though I arrived early. The rooms are very clean and a pretty good size. I'd highly recommend staying here for events at the Excel London.

The restaurant meal was okay, but the coffee was genuinely terrible. Try one of the food stands in Excel next door. The rooms were clean and the staff helpful enough. A few small irritations: the shower door opens into the shower, making it cramped and awkward, and there's no bin in the room apart from a tiny one in the bathroom.

We were at the hotel for a convention at the Excel, and its clean, distinctive look made a good first impression. Our Urban room was spacious, spotless, with a comfortable bed, a large bathroom and an excellent shower. The adjoining-room setup caused the real problem. The floor is laminate and there was basically no sound insulation between our room and the next. A loud group partied until 1:30am Friday night into Saturday, and we could hear everything. The hotel lets guests use the little hall between the rooms, and at one point the neighbours were in there fiddling with the door on our side. At exactly 1am that same night, our TV suddenly switched on with a loud chime and woke us. The second night was better, but we could still hear our neighbours being loud. I hope every room isn't joined this way. Please only assign these rooms to people who ask for them, because it really soured our stay.
