Ashburn Hotel

The hotel is easy to get around from, with buses and the metro nearby, and the centre is still reachable on foot in about 20 minutes. The rooms are a good size, and housekeeping does its job, though a bit more attention to detail would make a difference. Breakfast was below my expectations and didn't match what I felt the hotel's price and quality called for. The price-quality balance was consistently good, and overall I had a good experience, with a few areas to improve.

We were able to walk to several good places to eat, coffee shops, and tea rooms, as well as the museums on Cromwell, Hyde Park, and Kensington Palace. Gloucester Tube station is also a short walk away, with a direct train from London Heathrow. Our room at the Ashburn Hotel was really comfortable for catching up on sleep after the jet lag. The staff were excellent, friendly, and attentive. We had a lovely stay when we first arrived in London, and we're already planning to book again.

I've stayed at this hotel several times and called ahead to confirm we'd have two separate beds in a king room. We booked for two, but on arrival found a very tiny room with one bed made from two mattresses pushed together. The person in the lobby said, “in London, the rooms are all the same.” I couldn't even leave a message through the hotel's website contact form. Very disappointing, especially as this hotel has usually been kind and pleasant.

For London, the price is good value, and getting to the Tube or Heathrow airport is easy. I'd definitely come back.
