Avari Apartments – Gray’s Collection

The place felt worn out, and there were wires where light fittings should have been. People next door partied until 5 a.m., which made the stay worse. Just a shame, really.

The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was nice, and the price seemed fair. I also liked having a Nespresso machine and some pods, though the mugs were too small for the coffee it made, so it was bound to overflow. There could be more bedroom furniture for stays with more than one person. It was okay for our one night, but a longer stay might have been harder. The location is very good, near lots of amenities and with easy access to central London. The room and services met our needs. The shared areas need attention, though, and the entrance felt grim, dirty and exposed. I can imagine someone on their own finding it intimidating. It was hot, so we had to leave the window open overnight and could hear a lot of noise. That’s probably what you expect in London, but the windows need replacing, and a fan would have helped. Cleanliness was passable, but it needed dusting and there were cobwebs around the kitchen units. It wouldn’t pass the ‘4 in bed’ test from the Channel 4 show!

The apartment’s location is very good, but I gave it this rating because the construction made it impossible to rest on a vacation. The host hadn’t told me there was work going on, with work starting at 6 a.m. I was told the construction is planned to continue for 3 or 4 years, which is why my video and photos show the construction site 🤬 When I arrived, the apartment was extremely dirty. I complained and they came to clean it. The online photos didn’t match the apartment, and the entrance to the building was a disaster, incredibly dirty. I posted two photos of the entrance.
