BeiRoom Hyde Park Apartments

The woman at reception was very nice, though the man on the morning shift wasn’t much help. The room was freezing because the window wouldn’t close properly and the roof clearly had no insulation. The bed felt like a school PE mat, and the duvet was paper-thin. It was possibly my worst night’s sleep, and I won’t be back. I’d told the hotel when I booked that I was bringing a newborn, but they put us on the fourth floor with no lift. We had to leave the pushchair in the hallway downstairs, then carry our bags up. The room also wasn’t what booking.com had advertised.

The room was a bit cramped for three people once the couch was opened as a bed, but it was great value for the price. We were lucky to get the first floor since there’s no elevator. In January it was heated decently, and the shower had strong pressure and hot water once we let it run for a bit. They changed the used towels every day, which was a nice surprise. The location is great, and they let us leave our suitcases before check-in and after checkout. There wasn’t much security for the bags, but it was helpful. Some receptionists were more welcoming than others, though nobody was aggressive.

The rooms were clean and had what we needed for a few days in London, and the service was excellent. They gave us everything we asked for. We had a great stay and would recommend it. It’s near Hyde Park rather than right in the heart of London around Soho or Oxford Street, but public transport makes it easy to get around. There’s no elevator, so we had to climb three flights of stairs. Also, the kitchenette had no stove, though we’d brought food to cook on one.

I was left waiting outside while the receptionist was on a break. When they finally showed up, they claimed the place was fully booked and refused to check me in. No hospitality and no honesty. Based on looks? Go figure.
