Best Western Plus Delmere Hotel

The room had clearly had a recent renovation, I think, and felt very smart, with touch buttons for everything. The lift goes to every floor, and the place was quiet. It's about a five-minute walk from Paddington station. Parking is limited to two spaces, but that's central London-ish. The continental breakfast was tasty and clean.

Wi-Fi was poor, so I couldn't have worked from there. Breakfast was decent enough, and the orange juice was real. For the money, the bed was great, well above average for a three-star hotel. The tiny room was clean enough, and I liked the warm LED lighting: around five light sources, each with two brightness settings, which was a fun bonus in such a small space. There were plenty of drawers and flat surfaces for my things. Some lamps didn't work, but the manager fixed them promptly when I asked. I got the rooftop room again, probably because I'm grumpy and hosts don't like that. I should've learned to socialize better as a kid. At least there was an elevator. During rush hour, 9-10, the cleaning team used it a lot. I waited literally five minutes, then took the stairs after staff asked me to wait longer. It happened once, but I avoided the lift during rush hour after that, so maybe I was just unlucky. After the stay I wondered why I don't use the BW rewards program, then remembered that in Europe the rewards aren't worth the hassle.

We were pleasantly surprised to find this familiar, good quality hotel was good value too. The staff were kind and helpful, and while the rooms were a little small, they were comfortable. We were out and about all day, so the room worked perfectly for us. We had Best Western points from the United States and could walk to and from Paddington Station to get around easily. We'd stay here again.

The location was so good, and the room was clean and modern. The ensuite felt like a big cupboard, and the breakfast choices were limited, so I skipped it. Staff were very helpful and good.
