Camden Enterprise Hotel & Pub

The rooms are clean, though a bit small and noisy. That’s understandable since they’re above a busy pub. I still think it’s worth the price, even if it can be steep. I’ve stayed here several times when going to The Roundhouse across the road. It’s about two minutes from Chalk Farm underground and five minutes from Camden market, so it’s very handy for the venue. The pub has a good atmosphere and a strong beer selection, including Murphy’s on tap. The fish burger is delicious. A few staff members can seem a bit miserable.

I paid almost $280 for a miserable stay, and it wasn’t worth it. The room had no heat, the lift wasn’t working, and I had to carry my bags up the stairs. The advertised 24/7 front desk didn’t exist in practice, and staff didn’t respond. The room wasn’t soundproof as claimed online. It was next to a club playing house music until 1am, and the bass shook the room. The area also felt very sketchy. In broad daylight, a junkie accosted me as I was going into the building. Terrible experience.

After seeing a gig at the roundhouse house, it was great to have the hotel right across the road and be able to walk straight back to bed. The room had a sexy, modern feel, and there was nothing seriously wrong with it. We’d absolutely stay again. A few small things could make it better. Paint was flaking on the shower ceiling, and there wasn’t a useful mirror near a plug for the hairdryer, so I had to stand on the bed to use the large mirror. The key keeps the room’s electricity on, so when one of us took it out, the other had to shower with the door open and curtains open for some light. Instructions for the air-con and coffee machine would’ve helped too.

The pub had a nice atmosphere, though I was disappointed by the flat prosecco and expected a wider choice of stouts and porters after seeing the sign outside. The hotel itself was nice, with helpful staff and a clean, good room.
