Chapter Aldgate - Campus Accommodation

The on-site team is the only good thing about living here. The staff are friendly, but you discover after moving in that many of the amenities aren’t actually available. One of the three lifts has been broken for three months, which creates constant delays in this student accommodation, especially at busy times. The food locker system is also unreliable. Delivery drivers are meant to leave orders in a secure machine inside the building, but it doesn’t work properly here. The same organisation runs it successfully at their Spitalfields location. Residents have raised the problem repeatedly, with no improvement. It feels as though the urgency to fix anything goes away once you’ve signed the contract. Unfortunately, you only find out about these ongoing issues after moving in.

The common room is a good place to socialise, with billiards, foosball, and table tennis, and the cinema room has an XBox and PS5. Reception staff are super nice too. Shaq, Armando, and Gabi are helpful and skilled. The rooms don’t feel worth the price. They’re too small, the mattress is really uncomfortable, and the desk chair is literally a pain in the butt. Be careful with the bathroom heater, it can burn you. It can be a good first year at uni, with chances to meet people and have a good time, but there are both positives and negatives.

I’ve been at Chapter Aldgate for nearly a year, and I like living here enough that I’m seriously thinking of extending, even though my university is quite far away. The facilities are great, the atmosphere is lively, and the staff make a real difference. The team working today were especially helpful, friendly, and professional, the best, really. That support makes the place feel like home. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for good student accommodation in London.

We were stranded because of an airline strike, and without the staff’s help we’d have been in a terrible mess. They were patient and kind, and went well beyond what they needed to do for us. The accommodation is very good value for money, but the phenomenal staff are what make it. I couldn’t recommend Chapter Aldgate more highly. If we’re in London again, it’ll be our first choice for accommodation.
