We stayed in a monkey temple room with a lovely view of the wanyama. Watching the ostrich and giraffe in the morning and evening was great, and the porcupines were just too cute. You can also go into the wanyama area after the park closes, when it's quiet. The room was immaculate, with comfy beds and air con, which was fantastic during the hot weekend we visited. Check-in and check-out were quick and effortless. Add your registration to the booking and the gate recognizes you. Either way, get a ticket from reception when leaving to avoid trouble at the gate. We had a couple of drinks in the bar, at the usual £8 a pint for other Merlin attractions. We didn't eat at this hotel. Breakfast next door was lovely, with a great buffet choice. For dinner, we got takeaway from the hotel next door. If you haven't booked a table, try to get one at the bar or terrace using a qr code, because that gives you access to that menu. Otherwise the takeaway menu is limited. We had wings and chips, which were lovely and enough. We didn't see any gluten free options and chose not to ask. From other Merlin parks, we know the breakfast sausages typically contain it, so we avoided them. It was our first visit, but unlikely to be our last. We had so much fun and would book this style of room again.

We went to the swimming pool too. It wasn't huge, but the splash pool slide was fun. Getting onto the rides an hour before the public added to the exclusivity, though food across the Resort and Park is very expensive. A bottle of water alone costs £3, so bring snacks and drinks. Our monkey-themed room at Azteca Hotel was clean and spacious enough for our two-night Friday-to-Sunday stay. It overlooked the theme park, and we could see the penguins from the window, so cute! We used self check-in and picked up our keys from the machine. I'd recommend a short stay for the experience. There's a treasure hunt for little ones, but we couldn't solve it easily, so we called Reception and they were really helpful with the code. Breakfast is included at the Temple Buffet, and it was amazing, with loads of yummy food like pancakes and pastries. There weren't many vegan options beyond vegan sausages and hash browns, but there was plenty of fruit, plus soy and oat milk. Please book breakfast ahead.

The buffet breakfast was better than I expected, though I'm not quite sure what I had in mind 🙈. The ketchup is very vinegary, though. The staff were friendly, and we were really happy with our stay at the Aztecs Hotel. We'd definitely come again.

My father and I stayed in the monkey temple room, and it was so cozy. The whole room had amazing theming, with monkeys and beautiful jewels on the wallpaper. The restaurant is lovely too, though a bit pricey, but worth it.

Good value for money at the Aztec Hotel. We checked in on my phone and got a text once the room was ready. Although check-in wasn't until 3pm, our keys were printed and we were able to head in with our bags around 1pm. The room was a little smaller than the one we'd had at Safari hotel before, but the decor suited the theme. The main bed was comfy, and there was plenty of space in the children's bed. Storage for children's clothes was limited, though, with little hanging space in the wardrobe, so ask for extra hangers if they allow. An iron and ironing board were provided, as was a hairdryer. There were separate TVs in each room, a locked safe in the children's room, and a small but very useful fridge in the main room. The bathroom was clean, with a deep tub, a rain head shower, and a detachable one. A bath mat and towels were provided. Staff replaced towels and linen daily, hoovered, and replenished the complimentary shampoo and conditioner. The cleaning staff were very good. A few minor repairs were still needed. The ceiling had around 14 patchy spots from filling and painting, and some paint and plaster were chipping in the bathroom. It didn't affect our stay, which was a great chance to rest after a fun-filled day. Downstairs, the Temple Bar buffet had plenty of food, including a Carvery, Full English and Continental breakfast, and extras.
